CDU’s first Bachelor of Software Engineering graduate is the brains behind a new design for the official website Territorians are advised to use when planning a road trip.

Robert Jackson, who graduated earlier this year, led the small team that created a new version for the NT Government’s Road Report website, which was launched recently.

“We needed to develop a website that was easy to use,” he said. “Considerable effort went into ensuring it was mobile friendly; we also updated features, including using an interactive map of the NT,” he said.

“It’s always good to check road conditions, particularly in the wet season or when you’re planning an off-road trip, to make sure the roads are open and passable, and to check for hazards.”

Robert, who works for Darwin-based IT company Radical Systems, said the idea took shape at CDU’s 2016 IT Code Fair, when he won an award for his original solution to increase public awareness about road conditions.
